€100 double chance poker game during the Marbella festival
THATS THE WAY YOU DO IT
Wednesday 10 October in the Calahonda Sporting club.
100 euro with a 50 euro double chance.
I arrived early to play a little cash and when the tournament begun the gash game was so good I dint want to leave it.
OK I thought Ill play 30 min in here then go out side to play the comp.
I was up and down then up in the cash before hitting a dry spell with no cards. I went outside to play the comp and was not to bothered if I did well or not.
I decided to play aggressive and either have loads of chips or go back to the cash game.
There were 45 runners and the atmosphere was great. Playing outside in the fresh air added to this and the tournament was well run.
I sit down and there has been a raise from the blinds of 100 200 to 600. 4 players call and I look down at T5 I wanted to re-raise to go heads up with the raiser and his AK but I thought I would see a flop.
543 rainbow. What a perfect or so I thought as I moved all in to collect the 2800 that was in the middle. Now we all started with 10,000 in chips and could re-buy once for another 10,000. They all passed except my friend the rock who says easy call with 67 LOL. OK CHIPS I shout and lets start again.
Then I go down to 5K in chips and think that the cash game is calling me.
With sheer aggression and feel for the table I bullied my way up to 25,000 again where I would sit for a while.
The blinds are going up fast and I want all the chips.
I start making great plays and winning pot after pot. I am raising a lot and each time I am called I am winning the pot but I still get no respect.
I raised with good cards and bad and bet out each flop. 1 hand I remember I raised and the BB a good player called me the flop was 447 I bet he called, the turn was a 2 bringing a flush and we both checked. The river was another 4 and I bet again, he showed me the flush and passed.
Now I was feeling good and building my stack.
Then I am in another hand where I raised pre flop. AT suited. The flop came 9d Td As. I checked knowing that the player would bet into me which he did. ALL IN he cried, call I said. He was in fact was about a 50/50 with his QJd (the only hand I didn’t want to see apart from 99).
I managed to win that pot and now I was over the 50K mark. The average stack now was only 35.
Frankie moved to our table with similar chips which would prove to be a test. Luckily he sat to my right but we tangled approx 1 in 3 pots and they were all big pots the chips went back and forth.
I am now on the button and everyone passes as normal, I decide to make a raise into the Scandies BB. He looked at me with that face saying I know you have nothing and asked me how much I have left. I let him know and he thinks before he calls. Now I know he is going to bet the flop no matter what. A stop and go play and why not I would do the same. I watch him as the flop comes down and I see him move all in. I look at the flop of 4 8 9 and call instantly for my last 40K or so with 2 pair 84. He shows Q3 and on the turn he was drawing dead.
Approaching the last 10 players on my BB a player moved all in. The blinds were high and the short stacks had to make these moves. Pascal (for the show) calls and I look down at 44. I also call.
I remind Pascal that the player is all in as to check it down but when the board comes 266 and he moves all in I know I have to call.
Pascal KT all in player A8 I manage to win the pot and take both players out.
I get to the final table with 160,000 in chips, Average was 87,000.
3rd hand in on my BB Frankie moves all in I have AQ suited and call. On their backs for a pot of over 175,000. Frankie shows 78 os and flops 2 pair. LOL I hit a Q on the turn but he fills up on the river to make a full house.
We are all having fun and laughing. After all its only a game.
Down but not out I recover and build back up to 150K. Frankie goes down to 30K and goes all in UTG I call him blind and another player then re-raises me. I have to call the extra 25K. Frankie Q5os ME AK not bad in the blinds and the all in player KK.
The flop Q57 OMG he does it again.
No help for me and another big pot gone.
We are now 7 handed with 5 prizes and I can feel my bubble boy history creeping up. I am now the short stack and warn the BB that I will have to go all in as I was in the small blind. My chips were just over double the big blind so I know he will call me.
As all the other players fold I think for a second. If I go all in blind he calls me, If I look there is a chance he will fold but only a small chance and I would rather win the pot uncontested. I look down and see the cards we all like to squeeze AA. I push my chips in and he calls. He had QT and had a straight draw on the turn and missed. I was back in the game. The next hand he was in the small blind and moved in and walked into AA in the BB. UL Ryan you played well. I even had a bet on him to win it.
6 left and the bubble was here.
With 3 rocks a Scandi, Frankie and me left looked like was going to be me or Frankie for the bubble. It was to be Frankie as he moved all in and walked into QQ. His luck could not continue and we were down to 5.
Blinds now 10,000 - 20,000 with a 2,000 ante. 40K a round and the average was 175,000.
A lot of walks for the blinds and also a few flops. Then I am down to 50K and move all in with A9 the BB with also a short stack but enough to call me and still be in does so with 83 os. The flop comes Q92 the turn was a 3 giving me 6 outs to stay alive. It was a blank on the river and my game was over. I stood up wished everybody good luck and went home.
As normal on my way home or lying in bed I reflect back on the night to see
1. If I think I played well? (I think I did play well over all on the night. I was aggressive and accumulated chips correctly and made good reads)
2. If I made any mistakes? (I think I may have made 1 or 2 but nothing serious)
3. Could have done anything different? (I could have played more aggressive 5 handed and picked up the blinds as I was in the money anyway it didn’t matter as long as my chips went in the pot first I had a chance to win. I am normally always upset if I do not win the tournament but am trying to change my attitude towards this. With blinds as high as they were it is not easy and there is a lot of luck involved so to make the money is my main goal now).
I decided I played ok considering I didn’t really have any good cards all day. I won money, not a lot I know but still better than loosing.
